Community meeting set for local seniors

The Sunset Center, McCulloch County Helping Hands Center and the Area Agency on Aging of the Concho Valley Council of Governments are hosting a community meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at the Helping Hands center located at 906 East 11th Street and 11 a.m. at the Sunset Center located at 214 West Lockhart in Brady. “Senior Connections” is a community meeting designed to provide information about services and programs available to older individuals. A brief introduction to the Area Agency on Aging will be followed by a question and answer session. Senior citizens, their families and friends, and other persons who are interested in issues affecting the aging population are invited to share their insights, concerns and thoughts for solutions to the unmet needs of McCulloch County’s older population. A wide variety of printed information covering various topics will also be distributed. Concho Valley Area Agency on Aging representatives will meet with community members for “Lunch and Conversations” from 10:30 a.m. at the Helping Hands center and 11 a.m. at the Sunset Center. Additionally, representatives with expertise in the areas of information and assistance, benefits counseling, nursing homes and long-term care will be available to schedule individual, confidential appointments.
