Susana Laing, 73, of Brownwood died Tuesday, Jan. 2 at the Brown-wood Regional Medical Center. Funeral mass will be held Friday (today) at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Mosignor Benedict Zeintek officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery. Born May 24, 1927, in Brady to Nicholas and Luisa Sanchez Ramirez, she married Baltazar Laing on April 12, 1947, in Melvin. After moving to Brownwood in 1948, she was employed by Holiday Inn for five years and for Brownwood Manufacturing for 13 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse H. and Alexandra Laing, Richard A. and Elsa Laing, Mario A. Laing, and Gerardo and Linda Laing, all of Brownwood; a brother, Bernardo Ramirez of Abilene; two sisters, Petra Ramirez of Melvin and Inez Laing and husband, Ezequiel, of Midland; grandchildren, Tracy Perry, Kimberly Parish, Brandi and Brian Laing, Ericka, Elizabeth and Brianna Laing; great-grandchildren, Bailey Perry and Taylor Parrish; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and many close relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Baltazar Laing, in 1992; her father, Nicholas Ramirez; and her mother, Luisa Ramirez.
