Bishop to preach at St. Paul’s

The Reverend James E. Folts, Bishop of the Episcopal Church Diocese of West Texas will be preaching at the 10:30 worship service Sunday, Jan. 7. Scheduled to be a Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, the service will be followed by a covered dish luncheon where a social hour with bishop will be held. Bishop Folts was born in San Antonio and received a bachelor or arts degree from Trinity University. He received his Masters of Divinity from Virginia Seminary and was honored with a Doctorate of Divinity in 1994. He was elected Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of West Texas in October 1993 and was ordained and consecrated in February 1994. He has served at churches in Hebronville, Falfurrias, Victoria and Edna. He became rector at St. Mark’s in San Marcos in 1968 and was the founding priest of St. Stephen’s Church in Wimberley. In 1979, he accepted a call to the Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene where Father Max Reynolds and his family were parishioners.
