Ferd Taylor Slocum, 69, of Brady died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Cresson Cemetery in Cresson under the direction of Leatherwood Memorial Chapels. Born Oct. 27, 1931, in Cresson to Ferd Slocum and Loma (Deering) Slocum, he was a longtime resident of the area where he worked as a rancher and horseman as well as a real estate agent. He was a member of the First United Church of Brady. Survivors include his spouse, Karen, of Brady; a son, Ferd Taylor Slocum, Jr., and wife, Lori, of Mason; a daughter, Marci Slocum Pearson, and husband, Lee Roy, of Eastland; two sisters, Wanda Watson and husband, Jim, of Aledo and Linda Tucker and husband, Jack, of Mullen, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Lena Slocum, Cassey Slocum, Christi Slocum, Ferd Taylor Slocum III and Rebecca Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
