Arvilla Viola Neal, 93, of Kerrville died Thursday, Dec. 21 in a care center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Kerrville Funeral Home with Louis Odle of the Church of Christ officiating. A Sermon in Song was given by Gene Helm along with singers from the Church of Christ. Burial followed in the Center Point Cemetery in Center Point. Born Sept. 22, 1907, in Double Knobs, Mason County, she lived for many years in Brady. On June 1, 1929, she married Thomas Albert Neal in McCulloch County. She was active in extension homemaker work, serving the Texas Extension Homemakers for more than 60 years. She was elected “Woman of the Year” by Texas Extension Homemaker. She was also active in the Boy Scouts of America. She moved to Kerrville in 1955 and was a member of the Kerrville Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday School teacher. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Linda L. Neal, of Kerrville; a brother, D.W. Valliant of Florida; a granddaughter, Tammey Lynn Rogers and husband, Wally; a great-grandson, Asher Rogers; an aunt, Omega James and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Albert, on Jan. 27, 1972; her only son, Jerry W. Neal; and a grandson, Jerry W. Neal, Jr.
