Lady Hornets can’t find loop hole with Zephyr

Losing 59-54 in their second attempt, the Rochelle Lady Hornets failed once again to capture a win against the only team who’s given them a run for their money this year. The Zephyr Bulldogs proved to be a tough match for the near flawless Lady Hornets who couldn’t get past the 13-point Zephyr lead going into the second quarter. Gina Baker got a season high with 41 points followed by Sara Crowder with 5 and Lacy Singleton and Tanda Cook with 4. “I think my girls just ran out of gas after playing 13 games in three weeks,” said Rochelle coach Mike Gardner. “We got off to a terrible start’down 13 points at the end of the first quarter. “We out-scored them the rest of the game but could not overcome the early lead. Gina Baker had a monstrous game scoring 41 points. The Christmas break will help us get our legs back and recover our mental game.” Score By Quarters: Rochelle 7 18 14 15’54 Zephyr 20 12 12 15’59
