Carroll Dickson Barnett, 67, of Eden died Monday, Dec. 11. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of th Eden Funeral Home, Flo Perez and Willie Turner officiating. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady. Born June 29, 1933, to Newman M. Barnett and Berniece Sheffield Barnett in Brady, he was a registered polled hereford breeder for 65 years. A retired rancher in the cattle industry, he was also a renowned livestock photographer for many years and enjoyed flying his airplane, fishing and spending time with his grandson, Cody Hoelscher. He graduated from Melvin High School in 1950 and from Texas Tech University in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in animal science. He served in the U.S. Army Veternary Service from 1955 to 1957. He married Dorothy Rapp on Sept. 17, 1955, in Huntington Park, Calif. Together they moved to Edne from Melvin in 1997. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Melvin. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Barnett, of Eden; a daughter, Caren Ann Hoelscher, of Eden; a grandson, Cody Hoelscher, of Eden; two aunts, Vada Mae Johnson of San Angelo and Winnie Berquist of Menard; an uncle, Floyd L. Napier, of Menard; two brothers-in-law, James L. Rapp and wife, Elsie, of Carlsbad and Earl Rapp of Eden; and numerous cousins.
