American Legion and Auxiliary Christmas dinner to benefit local domestic abuse shelter

The Community Christmas Dinner hosted by the Howard Kilmer Post 510 of the American Legion and Auxiliary will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Post Home in Mercury. Meat will be provided for the dinner, and members and guests are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy an evening of visiting, singing Christmas carols and playing games. The drawing for the Wal-Mart shopping spree give-a-ways will be held during the event. Three gift certificates ($300, $150 and $50) will be given away. Tickets are $1 each or $5 for 6. For the fourth year, the Legion and Auxiliary are sending a care package to a McCulloch County serviceman stationed overseas and unable to be home for the holidays. Everyone attending is asked to bring a snack food item in an unbreakable container to the dinner. The Auxiliary will also have a money tree benefiting The Haven, a local shelter for abused women and children scheduled to open soon in Brady.
