Panthers split pair with Brady 8th girls

The Brady 8th girls division split a pair of games with Liberty Hill as the A team fell, 44-14 while the B team edged a 17-14 victory over the Panthers. In the A game, despite losing by a large margin, Brady coach Misti Murphree commented on the effort of the girls. “The score certainly does not reflect the effort put out by these girls. This group has a lot of speed, but they are having a difficult time controlling the ball,” said Murphree. “The girls are getting so excited and rushed that they are not taking smart shots or throwing good passes.” Turnovers cost the Brady team dearly and frustration and loss of control added fuel to the fire. “The girls know the target areas on which we need to improve and they are excited about next week. They are getting better with each game,” said Murphree. Jordan Barley led the way for the young Doggies with six points and seven defensive rebounds. Liana Harper and Dana Hagemann each added four points to the boards as well. Score by quarters: Brady 4 0 2 8’14 L. Hill 8 20 10 6’44 The next game the girls play will be Monday, Dec. 4 at Ingram. H The B team used a late game offensive surge to boost them past the Panthers, 17-14. “This group of girls have come so far since the beginning of the season,” said coach Murphree. “They are working hard, becoming more aggressive and above all, working together as a team.” Rosa Botello and Joclynn Doyal led the team with five steals each and Trista Jeffrey led the scoring with seven and also had four steals and three defensive rebounds. “The girls needed this win. I could not be more proud of the hard work and team effort they have shown,” said Murphree. Score by quarters: Brady 3 4 4 6’17 L. Hill 1 7 4 2’14
