Mason overtakes Lady Dawgs, 46-40

It was a game of two halves, according to coach Ted Epley, as the Brady Lady Bulldogs dropped their third straight game in Mason last Tuesday night, 46-40. “We played decent basketball in th first half, leading 24-17 at intermission,” the coach said. In the second half, however, “our shooting problems returned.” The Lady Dawgs shoot 50 percent in the first part of the game, from inside the three-point arc, and they held the Lady Punchers to only three field goals. Eleven of Mason’s 17 points came from the free throw line. Epley said the Lady Punchers “packed back into a zone in the final two quarters, and we were unable to hit anything from outside.” The coach said his team hit only two of 22 three-point shots, “most of them wide open attempts, which is only 9 percent.” He explained that if the shots ever begin to start falling, “we have a chance to be pretty good.” Kati Hines led the Brady squad in scoring with 13 points. Danielle Snodgrass and Shauna Broz each netted six. Jennifer Valdez had seven rebounds for Brady. “The ladies have got to keep their heads up and keep working. Maybe we’re waiting for Jan. 5, when district play starts, before our shots hit the mark,” Epley said. The team will be in the Ballinger tournament this weekend.
