The Texas Department of Health, located at 1004 S. Bridge Street, will be holding a diabetic workshop open to the public on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Those attending the workshop will have an opportunity to have their blood sugar checked, blood pressure checked, referral for a diabetic eye exam, if necessary, and get information on the foot care for the diabetic. “We did this last year and it was very successful, so we decided to make it a yearly event,” stated Lee Ann Moore, RN Manager of the clinic. “Chester Bryant, the nutritionist for Region 9 and 10 of the Texas Department of Health from El Paso, was a huge hit last year and he will be back again this year for a repeat performance. He will be giving instructions for good nutrition for diabetics at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.,” she said. Everyone is invited to attend and participate in the screenings and sample the cooking. “We appreciate all of the people of McCulloch County and the support we receive for our Health Department Clinic and we would like to take this opportunity to show our gratitude by giving special care to the diabetics in our community,” said Mrs. Moore. No appointments are necessary and the hours for this diabetic clinic are from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. For more information, please call the clinic at (915) 597-0550.
