In honor of Veteran’s Day 2000 the U.S. History class under the direction of teacher Chuck Bailey will host a veteran’s program in the Brady High School auditorium on Friday, Nov. 10 beginning at 10:15 a.m. The program is also being hosted by the Brady High School faculty and support staff, the BHS Interact Club and the BHS PALS organization. A reception and registration session will start the event from 9-10 a.m. in the high school library. Complimentary food and refreshments will be available for veterans as well. All McCulloch County veterans are encouraged to attend and register early through the high school. Registration forms can be picked up in advance at the Brady VFW Hall, American Legion, Rotary Club or Lions Club prior to the event. “Pre-registration will help us anticipate and prepare some awards earlier than the morning of the event,” said Bailey. “This program is in memory of those past and present whose military service has kept our nation safe and strong and whose sacrifices have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.” “May we gain a fuller appreciation for Thomas Jefferson’s observation that ‘The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.'” The event will be aided by student ushers, speakers and presenters, the VFW Post 3234, Brady Rotary Club, Brady Lions Club, American Legion, Wal-Mart, Hepburn’s Plantland, KNEL Radio, Brady Standard-Herald and Classic Cable Channel 12. The event is expected to last through 11:35 a.m., and everyone is invited to attend.
