The Brady Rotary Club met Tuesday at noon at the Cafe at the Depot. Vice president Steve De Fiore presided in the absence of president Jim Ricks. Mike Seidenberger was the guest of Connie Locklear. Out of town visitors were Brad Ellis of Lohn and Rotarian Ralph Prien from Idyllwild, Calif. He presented our club with a club banner from his club. Student Rotarian Angela Dodd was present for her first visit. She is the daughter of Don and Lisa Dodd of Brady. She has one sibling, Dusty Dodd and is a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ. She is actively involved in cheerleading, track, many clubs and organizations such as Youth Alive, FCA, Interact, SPOOKS, Student Council and band. She was Rotary Interact Class representative in eleventh grade and is now the Student Council class vice president for her senior year and co-captain for the cheerleading squad. Angela was voted most ambitious in both ninth and eleventh grade; attended the Lions Honor Banquet all three years; earned perfect attendance honors her ninth grade first semester; was nominated to Who’s Who Among High School Students; received a Science Merit Award; is on the honor roll; attended RYLA, LCRA and International Sports Tours and was a Girls’ State delegate. After graduation she plans to attend college and major in nursing or interior design. Program chairman Caroline Parks introduced Brady Elementary counselor Kathleen Gray. Mrs. Gray told us of the many needs for counseling at that grade level. There are many students who need guidance and help that they do not get at home. Our school has classroom guidance, small group counseling and individual guidance counseling. The $2 bill was won by Mrs. Gray for knowing that the newest U.S. quarter will be from New Hampshire. Program chairman for Nov. 7 is Jim Ricks. Nov. 14 is Bill Ricks. We put up flags on Nov. 11 for Veteran’s Day. Rotarian Gary Broz was given a round of applause for his service to the Brady Rotary Club over the past 10 years. He will be taking a job in Port Lavaca in the near future.
