First Baptist Church hosting its fifth annual fall luncheon

The Fifth Annual Ladies/Girls Fall Luncheon will be held in the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11:30 a.m. with table viewing set for 10:30 a.m. The luncheon began in 1996 with the funds being used to purchase round tables and chairs for the new Family Life Center. The funds are still being used to purchase equipment for the building. Forty-four tables will be decorated for an estimated 400 ladies and girls to enjoy lunch, fellowship and an inspirational program. A limited number of tickets are available for $10 each. Please contact Maurice Mallow at 915-597-2373 for additional information. Nancy Robinson Masters of Abilene will be this year’s luncheon speaker. Mrs. Masters is a pilot, journalist and inspirational speaker whose warmth, wit and “down home” style have touched thousands of readers and listeners of all ages around the world. Today, Nancy is a sought-after speaker for schools, businesses, civic groups and retreats. Her feature articles appear in more than 30 publications around the world. She is a devotional writer and author of 14 books, including award winning volumes for children. Her books will be available for purchase after the luncheon. She was a visiting author at the Brady Elementary School in the spring of 1999. Ashley Finley of Fort Worth will sing. She is the daughter of Mike and Charlotte Finley and granddaughter of Marion D. and Dorothy Rice and Patsy and Bill Finley, all of Brady. Guests attending the luncheon are asked to bring items needed for The Haven, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, which will open in Brady in the near future. These can be personal items, twin size sheets, blankets, towels or wash cloths. Also items for babies and children, including disposable diapers, baby blankets, crib sheets, baby lotion, powder and new baby bottles, are needed. Co-chairmen for this year’s luncheon are Kathi Barksdale and Lorna Moore.
