The Melvin Family and Community Education Club (FCE) met Oct. 9 at the home of Geneva Joslin at 7 p.m. There were eight members and one guest present. The meeting was called to order with a prayer by president JoAnn Whitworth. Roll was called by secretary Billie Donohoe, and attendees responded with their favorite color. The meeting minutes were read and approved, followed by the treasury report by Doris Krieg. The club was pleased to learn that a new grant had been received by G. Rollie White to assist in renovating the Melvin Community Center. In discussing the center renovations, plans were made to meet on Oct. 12 to select flooring for the center. Other new business included the mention of a workshop at the Brady Extension office on Oct. 24 with a potluck lunch. There was also mention of a birthday party scheduled for Nov. 24 at the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ for Bernie Diehl. Preliminary plans were discussed for the “Taste of Christmas” slated for Dec. 12 with additional plans to be made at the next club meeting. Finally, the FCEC has adopted a new name, and in the future will be referred to as the Melvin Extension Education Club. The adjournment was followed by refreshments served by Geneva Joslin and Jane Holubec.
