Shopping, quilting, hunting, stomping and strumming’all points of interest offered during Labor Day weekend in Fredericksburg. Craft and home decor enthusiasts from all over will head to the Gillespie County Fairgrounds for the Counrty Peddler Show on Friday, Sept. 1 from 4-9 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fall and holiday fashions, arts and home decor will be featured at this year’s well-known event. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors (65 and over) and children under 12 get in free. For the quilting enthusiasts, the Vereins Quilt Guild Show will be held at the Gillespie County Historical Society Building at 312 West San Antonio Street. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $3 for everyone over 12 years of age. And for the men, the Seventh Annual “Opening Day” Outdoor Show will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg. Admission is $5 for adults, $1 for children six to 12 and free for those under six. The show offers exhibits, seminars and demonstrations for hunters and outdoorsmen. In addition, close to 100 white tail deer trophies will be on display at the Region 4 Texas Big Game Awards Center. The National Museum of the Pacific War will present “Living History Island Assault” in a wooded area of downtown Fredericksburg. Combined arms demonstrations of the weapons used in the Pacific theatre during World War II will take place at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. Just outside of town, the folks at Becker Vineyards will be stomping grapes as part of their harvest celebration. Everyone is encouraged to stop by on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. for this free event. The folks at Luckenbach, the laid-back town located about 10 miles southeast of Fredericksburg, will have musical entertainment from 1-10 p.m. on Saturday. This event is free to the public.
