Juanita O. Rodriguez, 89, of Melvin died Monday, June 26 at Angelo Community Hospital in San Angelo. Funeral services were held Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial followed in Rest Haven Cemetery under the direction of Leatherwood Colonial Funeral Home. Born May 14, 1911, in Concho County to Urbano Ortegon and Ynez Pruneda Ortegon, she married Abraham Rodriguez on April 26, 1942, in Olfen. She was a homemaker, a lifelong resident of the area and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Melvin. Survivors include her husband, Abraham Rodriguez, Sr., of Brady; four sons, Honofre T. Rodriguez and wife, Frances of Burley, Id., Abraham Rodriguez, Jr. of LaPorte, Albert Rodriguez and wife, Irma, of Brady, and Gilbert Rodriguez and wife, Teresa, of San Angelo; six daughter, Nora Paterna and husband, Jose, of Abilene, Vera Gozales and husband, Rueben of Brady, Nellie Balderas and husband, Marcus, of San Angelo, Janie Windes and husband, Everett, of Dittmer, Mo., Bella Pena of San Angelo and Lindas Rodriguez of Melvin; two sisters, Amalia Deanda of San Antonio and Francisca Hernandez of Kerrville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
