Marvin Lincoln Farris, 80, of McCulloch County, died Wednesday, June 14 in Brownwood. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Harold Fite, conducting. Burial will be in Cowboy Cemetery. Born June 14, 1920, in McCulloch County, he was the son of Jesse James and Mamie Lee Long Farris of McCulloch County. He was retired from General Dynamics in Fort Worth and had been a longtime resident of McCulloch County. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Farris served in the U.S. Army. He married Ruby Alleene Shepperd on Oct. 10, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Alleene of the home; two daughters, Mary Jo Hoffmire and her husband, Will, of Brady, and R.J. Rooney and her husband, Jim, of Mercury; two sisters, Elvera Jones and her husband, Walter, of Brownwood, and Thelma McDowell and her husband, Joe, of Brady; a brother, Frank Farris and his wife, Billie, of Victoria; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Farris of Brady; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister and a son. The family requests memorial be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or research or a favorite charity.
