Golf outing nets $1,000 scholarship

A blazing round of subpar golf was good enough to win a $1,000 scholarship for a McCulloch County high school senior who will graduate in 2001. Brady National Bank employees Billie Davis and Greg Neel were one of the top six teams when the tournament was called due to rain last weekend at the Tribute Course in the Colony. Ending the single-day tournament with a score of 10 under par through 16 holes of play, the foursome of which Davis and Neel were a part, qualified for one of six $1,000 scholarships. The scholarship will be awarded to a McCulloch County graduating senior of the class of 2001 in the name of Brady National Bank. Neel and Davis participated in the first annual championship golf tournament sponsored by several banking related institutions. The course on which the tournament was held is a new course that is designed with each hole replicating a famous hole at one of several popular historic courses in Scotland. “This was a brand new course that has only been open for maybe a month,” said Davis. “The course was incredible and our team was able to take advantage of several good shots. The scholarship awarded to us is another investment in McCulloch County along with the various other things our bank is able to do.”
