Brady resident Pat Long and business partner and teammate Wade Pierce of Bellville competed in the World Champion Auctioneer’s Team competition last weekend and brought home the world title auction team. The international contest was held in Atlanta, Georgia in a two-day competition. The contest was judged by nine judges from across the nation and teams were judged on the combination of auctioneer, ringman, product knowledge and their ability to work as a team. The duo began competing on Friday and took a sizeable lead into the final day of the meet. The scores from both days were averaged by the panel of judges and the pair of Long and Pierce was named as the new World Champion Auctioneer’s Team. In individual competition, Long placed seventh in the world and Pierce placed ninth. Long is the 1994 Texas State Champion auctioneer and owns and operates Pat Long and Associates Inc., and is also a licensed real estate broker. He graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1975 and has been an auctioneer since 1978. He is an instructor at the Texas Auction Academy in Dallas and along with his wife, Becky, they have four boys Cody, Casey, Jake and Will. They have lived in Brady for six years. Pierce is married to Janet and along with their children Mallory and Morgan, they reside in Bellville.
